Los Carboneros (2010)

Winner of Best Documentary at the Monterrey International Film Festival.

The film explores Mexico’s coal region history, emphasizing its economic importance and deadly mine accidents. Using a vérité style, we follow Carlos, a coal miner and father of six, during a day in the mine, as he breaks stone in the dark and extracts eight tons of coal for 500 pesos a day.
